Jeff Irvine is a Senior Consultant on WSP’s Sustainability, Energy and Climate Change team and a certified Urban Greenhouse Gas Inventory Specialist. He brings 12 years of professional experience implementing policy and program management solutions with expertise in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and greenhouse gas (GHG) management. Jeff supports clients with GHG and water inventories, verification reviews, policy and data analysis, performance target setting, risk and opportunity assessment, and sustainability and energy strategy. Jeff has extensive experience supporting city sustainability programs, including CDP reporting, greenhouse gas inventory development, climate hazard assessment, and clean energy program development. He has also supported multiple Fortune 500 companies with limited verification of GHG and water inventories and inventory management plans in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 14064-3 standard.
For a recent public client, Jeff supported the city’s compliance with the Global Covenant of Mayors by leading a climate hazard assessment and developing a GPC community-wide greenhouse gas inventory. In a recent project for C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, he led technical development of a tool to support cities in evaluating interactions between climate adaptation and mitigation strategies. For recent corporate clients, Jeff has led the development of science-based targets, internal carbon pricing policies, and renewable energy purchasing strategies. In addition to his sustainability and energy experience, Jeff has an extensive background in communication. Prior to joining WSP, Jeff managed New York City’s solar policy and market development program leading to a tripling of NYC’s solar capacity deployment.
Jeff holds an MPA in environmental science and policy from Columbia University and a BS in communications from Syracuse University.
